Ronald DeGregorio
Ron DeGregorio, Chairman of the PenFacs Group, founded PenFacs in 1977. The business focus of PenFacs is to work with Investment Advisors, Accountants, Attorneys and other financial professionals in due diligence review and selection of insurance products and derivatives to meet client risk assessment and wealth transfer goals. Insurance products such as Life, Long term care, disability Insurances as well as Annuities are offered through the New PenFacs Insurance Agency (NPIA). NPIA also works with other insurance professionals and clients on an individual, group, or association basis.
Ron has received the designations of Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU), Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC), Certified Financial Planner (CFP), and Chartered Advisor for Senior Living (CASL).
Ron is a 1964 graduate of Boston Latin High School and received a BA from Middlebury College, Middlebury Vermont in 1969. He also has a Master Degree in Financial Services (MSFS) from the American College (1981).
Other Interests and Hobbies:
Ron has been involved with the sport of Hockey as player, coach, owner, and administrator. From 2003 thru June 2015, he was President of USA Hockey, Inc. and its Foundation. In 2022, he completed his roles as Chairman of USA Hockey, Hockey Hall of Fame Board of Director for 10 years, and his service on the International Ice Hockey Federation Congress and Executive Council. USA Hockey is the recognized National Governing Body of ice hockey in the United States and is responsible for training and organizing National and Olympic teams representing the United States in World competitions. There are over 600,000 participant members of USA Hockey currently and include youth through adult players, coaches, referees, and administrators. There are also more than 400,000 non participant members such as parents and friends of hockey.
Ron is also the founder of HARP Insurance Company and served as its President from its founding to 2002 to 2010. HARP is an insurance captive specializing in insurable risks in hockey.
Ron also served on the Board of PANOL, an insurance captive owned by the United States Olympic Committee (USOC).
Ron led a group of investors in 1995 and was the managing partner of the Kentucky Thoroughblades of the American Hockey League. The team was the San Joe Sharks primary development team. Ron ran the day to day operations of the team through the year 2000.
Ron was selected in 2003 a recipient of the prestigious “Lester Patrick Award” presented by the NHL for service to hockey in the USA. Ron was inducted in the United States Hockey Hall of Fame in December, 2015.
Ron enjoys his grandchildren and playing golf while spending his volunteer time helping Youth and Olympic sports programs. He is married to Susan and has four children and seven grandchildren.
